We’ve now been up and running as an active discussion forum on LinkedIn group for 9 Months (Social Media UK http://bit.ly/3BTysQ... ), we’ve grown and developed a successful meetup event with a community blog (www.socialmediamonday.co.uk) and we have some exciting plans for 2010.

I wanted to give a special thanks to those that have contributed in the form of a presentation, blog or advice, without your ideas we wouldn’t have had the success as a community that we’ve had.

Looking into 2010, we have some exciting projects in motion.

We’re launching a fundraising campaign in the Social Media community for ICAN, a Childrens communication charity based in the UK. We’re producing an eBook which will be available following small donations and a line up of events that will help raise money through the powers of social media.

#SMUK is teaming up with the Social Media World Forum, an event on 15th / 16th of March held in London.
SMWF is Europes leading Social Media Event and they have an impressive international line up key speakers from global brands, organisations, social networking publishers and developers, pioneering social media leaders, agencies, content producers plus many more.
#SMUK will be holding Workshop talks in the afternoon and co-hosting the afterparty for plenty of ‘social’ till late.

We have a number of bloggers who are happy to contribute regular posts, and some guest bloggers who will pop up here and there. We’re hoping that this can be a community site that is active and valuable in the ever changing market that is Social Media Marketing. In the New Year we’ll announce full plans for the February event, Todd will be presenting ‘In-Out-Around’ his take on approach to Social Media and we’ll have Twit140k in motion. (we figured missing January was a good idea). We have some interesting talks in progress for speakers in the 1st half of the year already, so watch this space and get in touch if you’d like to be involved.
The event is growing, we’re very happy with our fantastic new venue and we look forward to seeing you there in force.
